- The variety of drums and their roles in the drumline
- Definition of tempo and how it is the basis for any song
- The difference in drum strike weight to produce different volumes of sound
- The different rudiment patterns that can be used as drills or to create a beat for a song
PRACTICED SKILLS:
- Identifying bass, tenor, and snare drums as well as cymbals
- Keeping time and tempo to a song
- Playing along to a song while keeping time as well as landing proper dynamic hits at the precise volume
- Learning about the several drum rudiments and patterns
FINAL PROJECT:
Play (i.e. as a collective drumline group) to the beat and perform a pattern to the song Blinding Lights by The Weeknd
