FASHION & ACCESSORIES DESIGN

LESSON TITLES:

  • Fashion History
  • Fabrics and Their Uses
  • Sketching a Design 
  • Color and Texture

COVERED KNOWLEDGE:

  • History of fashion and designs throughout different time periods 
  • The difference between certain fabrics and how they can be used such as satin, polyester, cotton etc.
  • The beginnings of designing shirts, pants, dresses etc. 
  • How Colors and Textures can work together to emphasize a mood or style

PRACTICED SKILLS:

  • Stitching, threading, cutting, corners, seams, and hems 
  • Identifying different fabrics by touch and sight 
  • Sketching and drawing out original designs 
  • Using colors in original designs

FINAL PROJECT:

Create a sketch of an original design (e.g. a hair bow, pillow) with colors that combine well, and then use the appropriate fabric and threads to sew it together
