P3:
Video Game Tournament
Using a unique production method, this hands-on 20-Class Final Project employs the Planning, Promoting, Sale, and Hosting of a large-scale Video Game Tournament (i.e. an Event) to teach 1st thru 5th Grade students third-level skill sets in the areas of 1) Business & Entrepreneurship; 2) Innovation & Creativity; 3) Research & Study Habits; 4) Budget & Finance; 5) Career Exposure; and 6) Service Learning. Using a project-based approach, students will learn about the Visual & Performing Arts Industry and participate in fun and engaging activities that include, but are not limited to the following:
Business & Entrepreneurship:
- Building a mini event planning company - exploring event logistics, customer experience, branding, and revenue generation
Innovation & Creativity:
- Designing logos, creating scoreboards, and decorating the venue in order to make the tournament engaging and memorable
Research & Study Habits:
- Conducting surveys, studying different types of tournaments, and game ratings to aid in making informed decisions
Budget & Finance:
- Learning to create budgets, set entry fees, and balance cost-saving decisions with quality experiences for participants and guests
Career Exposure:
- Exploring careers such as UX Designer and Video Game Designer
Service Learning:
- Donating to charities and raising awareness for a community issue
