Health & Self-Care Fair
Though this dynamic 20-Class Final Project focuses on the promotion of physical, mental, and emotional health, it uses the Planning, Promoting, Sale, and Hosting of a large-scale Health & Self-Care Fair (i.e. an Event) to teach 1st thru 5th Grade students third-level skill sets in the areas of 1) Business & Entrepreneurship; 2) Innovation & Creativity; 3) Research & Study Habits; 4) Budget & Finance; 5) Career Exposure; and 6) Service Learning. Using a project-based approach, students will learn about the Biological Science Industry and participate in fun and engaging activities that include, but are not limited to the following:
Business & Entrepreneurship:
- Organizing planning committees to design events, organize booth experiences, and develop student-made wellness products
Innovation & Creativity:
- Designing relaxing environments, self-care products, and inventing fun health stations that will make the fair engaging and meaningful
Research & Study Habits:
- Studying wellness topics (e.g. nutrition and hydration), practice note-taking, and summarizing as they prepare materials for displays
Budget & Finance:
- Planning event costs (e.g., materials, giveaways, signage), creating vendor budgets, and tracking sales from student-created products
Career Exposure:
- Exploring careers such as Physician/Doctor and Dentist
Service Learning:
- Initiating donation drives (e.g., hygiene kits and healthy snacks for shelters)
